David carries a broad practice emphasizing all facets of business, commercial and corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, leasing and real estate, real estate development, licensing and franchise law, with experience in those areas across numerous industries and sectors.
After being called to the Ontario Bar in 1996, David started at a small downtown Toronto law firm and eventually moved on to being a partner with a mid-sized Toronto law firm. Having obtained a Masters in Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business, David took a brief leave from the practice of law where he held the position of Director of Policy and Senior Advisor to Ontario’s Minister of Finance on matters regarding capital markets, banking and securities regulation, economic policy, taxation policy and enforcement, and general legal affairs.
David also for a time worked in-house with a new technology company, as Chief Operations Officer and in-house legal counsel, later becoming President of its affiliate corporation and successfully bringing a revolutionary waste-to-energy technology from its prototype stage to commercialization.
Currently, David also works with various clients as an advisor on all aspects of business management, available to work with management through to successful implementation and execution of the task at hand. Engaged with various small and medium sized businesses and real estate development clients, David works with management reviewing and assessing business opportunities, preparing business plans, arranging financing, creating and implementing business development, marketing and sales strategies, operations and procedures matters, growth and acquisition strategies, product development, intellectual property protection, regulatory issues, and exit strategies. Certain clients turn to David to negotiate transactions or disputes on their behalf, represent or present in public or media situations for them, as well as for advice and management of government, media and public relations, including representing clients before governments, government bodies or regulators, the media, stakeholders and the public.
